Lehigh Valley Hazard Mitigation Plan
Bath Multimodal Safety + Parking Analysis
Walk/RollLV
The Lehigh Valley is vulnerable to a variety of natural hazards such as flooding, tornadoes and sinkholes, and a growing number of man-made hazards that include hazardous materials, traffic accidents and building collapse. Hazard Mitigation planning can lessen the impact of such events by using a proactive approach of assessing the risk and then identifying actions to create safe, more disaster-resilient communities.
Through partnership with the Lehigh Valley Transportation Study, Borough of Bath and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, a year-long study was initiated in December 2016 to determine what those improvements could be. The report and its recommendations were adopted by Bath Council in July 2018.
The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is the Lehigh Valley’s $484 million four-year plan to maintain and enhance the transportation system in Lehigh and Northampton counties. It is updated every two years. The TIP is critical to the economic and social future of the region, targeting infrastructure investments that support a vibrant, inclusive, resilient and growing Lehigh Valley.
Walk/RollLV is the Lehigh Valley’s first ever transportation network masterplan aimed at creating a connected road, trail, sidewalk and transit network that’s safe and convenient for pedestrians, bicyclists, drivers and transit users. Walk/RollLV was adopted June 3, 2020 by the Lehigh Valley Transportation Study.

Open Space Plan
This is the plan prepared by the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission on behalf of Northampton County and Lehigh County. The Plan contains revisions based upon the review comments received from the Monocacy Creek Watershed Advisory Committee and the affected municipalities. The plan was adopted by Lehigh County on December 20, 2017, Northampton County on January 4, 2018 and approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection on May 21, 2018.
The purpose of this plan is to
guide the conservation, restoration and enhancement of the County’s open space and cultural resources and create linkages between these vast resources. This Plan is intended to guide the decisions of municipalities, conservation organizations, landowners and developers and encourage partnerships to achieve common goals for natural
resources; outdoor recreation facilities; greenways and blueways; agricultural lands and historic, cultural and scenic resources.

The Guidelines are important for reinforcing the message of the outstanding natural resources present in the Lehigh Valley and their wide variety of essential services and benefits to local residents and visitors, describing the best practices available for community and site design to preserve or enhance those resources, and defining improved stormwater management site design practices to better mimic natural systems.
